Cybersecurity is a District Responsibility

Too many in district leadership realize this only after they're waist deep in a cyber incident. When they discover too late, their files, email, or the Internet are inaccessible due to a cyber attack crippling student learning.

They didn't consider the extent to which their district was dependent on technology, not just for learning, but on the operational side as well including heating and ventilation, student information, transportation, communication, and countless other systems. Closing school is now a serious consideration and the pressure from angry like families, staff, and the school board is increasing. Persistent calls from the news media don't help, nor do the worries about the growing financial impact or the loss of sensitive data.

District leadership mistakenly thought cybersecurity was the technology team's responsibility. Now, painfully aware, they know better.
